The Life of the Lifeless
*A Life of Non-Things* is a self-reflective, essay-style documentary that explores the lives of people with disabilities from the inside, set in a devastated country with a disproportionately large population of disabled individuals. Through the psychological state of its protagonist, the film documents the multifaceted nature of disability—physical, psychological, and societal—while presenting a monotonous reflection of reality. Following a sudden psychological crisis, Khalil descends into a state of fragmentation and disorientation; time loses its familiar form, transforming into a slow, heavy abyss that mirrors his profound sense of aging. Now 33, he attempts to rediscover himself amidst the wreckage, with no clear path forward. Filmed over the course of a year, the camera enters Khalil’s life—at times as an objective observer, at others as an intimate presence—to explore this heavy, stagnant time within a confined space and a cycle of repetitive days.
